Meet Dr. Heidi Butts

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Heidi Butts-Wiegand has been serving her community through orthodontics since 1999. After graduating from Cor Jesu Academy (1982), Dr. Heidi continued her undergraduate education at Saint Louis University (1986). She graduated from the SIU School of Dental Medicine in 1996 and returned to Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education to obtain her specialty in Orthodontics (1998). Upon completion of her extensive education, Dr. Heidi joined her father’s practice.

In addition to her busy orthodontic practice, Dr. Heidi has served in the United States Army and the Illinois Army National Guard for 40 years, retiring on April 1, 2024. Her many accomplishments vary, from a combat experienced helicopter pilot to Dental Corps Officer who has served in leadership positions from Platoon Leader, Staff Officer, Commander, State Dental Officer, State Surgeon and currently as Senior Dental Officer for the Illinois National Guard.

Community involvement is evident in Dr. Heidi’s work as a Webster Groves Crossroads Business District Board Member and as a member of the Webster Groves Rotary. She is a member (and former Secretary) of the Delta Sigma Delta Professional Dental Fraternity and also serves on the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Heidi was an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Clinical Orthodontics at AT Still University MOSDOH (Missouri School of Dental and Oral Health). She currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Heidi is married to David G. Wiegand with three children: Cooper, Aaron, and Ruthie.
